Case 956 XL 4 wheel drive. 1987 just turned 10,000 hours. Rebuilt engine about 150 hours ago by a local Case specialist, new pistons liners, valves done, head skimmed, etc. New battery etc. Mechanically spot on, handbrake, 4 wheel drive works fine, gears, PTO brakes, etc, engine starts from cold easily. Since the engine was rebuilt. Sounds great like all 956’s. Does not burn oil or anything. No oil leaks, regularly serviced and greased. Front axle is tight.
I have owned this since late 2018, the man who had it before me used it to row up silage. I doubt I have done 250 hours. The pictures show the usual places they rust. Its at the stage where I keep it and give it a light restoration , paint etc or sell it and the future owner decided whether or not he wishes to use it as it is or gives it a light or full restoration. All the gauges work, diesel , handbrake etc. Most of the lights work and the indicators.
Cab will be cleaned out at the moment it is still being used lightly so there is no point cleaning out the cab. It is sort of a yard tractor, moving the odd machine about, testing out a machine, using jump leads to start a telehandler or tractor that won’t start or something.
It was used by a neighbour to mix his slurry pit last year and the year before another neighbour used it on a trailer.
Rear tyres BKT 97 % front 35 %
No add blue, EGR Valves, turbos, main dealer to reset a code etc. Lots of reasons to keep it but it is not used enough. Ideally I would like to think of it going for a full restoration but this would be up to the end purchaser.
(Nearly 4 k of BKT tyres and engine rebuild spent on it.)
